What is important

What you really, really want

Navigator’s strap-line, our written-down ‘Why?’ for the last several years has been, and remains, “We believe that the most important thing right now is what you want to do”.

It seems to me that this statement has gained focus and impetus in recent days and weeks. Have a think about this:

1. How many of us have nice cars that are sitting in the drive doing three weeks to the gallon? Anybody got a holiday home in Donegal or Spain (or wherever) that they can’t get to? Or who has the time and the money to travel the world, and nobody will take your booking?

2. On the other hand, who would like to be having dinner with their children, visiting their parents, going to church, or maybe just going to the pub with a group of friends?

Ask yourself: which category will you be attending to first when this is all over?

To paraphrase Michael Winner: money is of very little value unless you are able to exchange it for something else.

As ever, we would love to hear from you, if you have any comments about this or any other of our blogs, if you have any financial planning queries we can help you with, or if you just need a chat about what’s happening to you in these very strange times.

Please note that past performance is not a guide to the future, the value of an investment and the income from it could go down as well as up. You may not get back what you invest
