Order! Order!

David Crozier

Part of Navigator’s Personal CFO service is that we meet with clients on a regular basis, to discuss the progress they are making towards achieving the things that are most important to them.

Last week, John Sloan, one of my Navigator colleagues, and I meet with a couple that are relatively new clients for their first Regular Progress Meeting, and a comment was made that I thought was very enlightening.

“We are very glad you have brought some order and consistency to
our finances, rather than our children having to sort it out.”

The gentleman in question recently had the task of administering the estate of his late sister, who was a client of ours. He was comparing the relatively simple task of tidying up the affairs of someone who had her finances in order (with Navigator’s help) with the previous herculean task of sorting out his parents’ and brother’s estates, which were rather less organised.

Having now gone through the process of bringing all their own finances into one place, they can appreciate how much easier it is for themselves to compass what they have, never mind their executors in the fullness of time.

Also at the meeting was a young lady, with us for a couple of days’ experience. After the meeting, John & I asked her what she had learned from the meeting.

The answer was:

“You actually help people – a lot! You give people reassurance about the future.”

I’ll take that. Job done!
